During inclement weather, BKW may experience school closings, delays and early dismissals. In the event of any weather-related changes to BKW’s school schedules, we encourage you to check the district website and/or consult local media outlets—in addition to awaiting phone, text or e-mail notification—to ensure that you and your child(ren) receive the information as soon as possible.
How will you know if school has been cancelled, delayed or dismissed early?
• Cancellations, delays or early dismissals will be communicated to you through the district’s new automated phone messaging system, One Call Now. You will receive a phone call from this automated system letting you know how the district will proceed during inclement weather.
• School closings are also announced on the
following local TV and radio stations: Channel 6, Channel 10, Capital
News 9, Channel 13, Fox 23, WGY (810 AM), WFLY (92.3 FM), WYJB (95.5
FM), and WRVE (99.5 FM); as well as at
Please note: Due to technical difficulties, school closings and delays will no longer be posted to Channel 16.
• Closing information will also be sent directly to your email account/cell phone via the district's School News Notifier (SNN) system if you are subscribed to receive school closing/delay information. However, due to the volume of closing notifications sent and precautions put in place by the recipient's email server, these notifications may not be received immediately.
• When in doubt, please check www.bkwschools.org as all cancellations, delays and early dismissals are communicated there.
remember: If you need more information about an event or
other situation occurring at school, please first check our website or
listen to the radio or TV for details. Numerous phone calls to the
school may hinder the staff's ability to deal with the situation.
